Story: Ethernet marches towards telecoms domination

As an ex-major telecom techie, I can assure you there is a LOT of foot dragging going on - customer demands or not. And much of it is deeply rooted in the various geek-religions, ie. voice vs. data, sonet, ATM vs. everyone.
Ethernet is the 'english language' that's pulling the rug out from under these old school telcos, especially 802.11
So let's all have a moment of silence for ATM, PRI, SONET, T1 so we can get on with it.
Next for the heap irrelevancy - IP routing! Hellooo MPLS!
