Report continues! Deleting Windowshade from the start up folder got the Finder working, but Classic won't start up, nor will Word or any other of my previous applications.
Without Classic, I can't install updates for Word, so that's now useless.
It looks as though I'm going to have to back up all my files to another disk, reformat my hard drive and start again from scratch. What a dreadful waste of time and effort! I wish I had never bought this new OS.
