Story: Are ID cards a game of blind man's bluff?
Well spoken!
The biggest concern that I have is that thos criminal and terrorist groups will - of course - have no problem creating bogus ID cards and that these cards, by their very nature, will make it even easier for them to perform acts of terrorism because the cards will give them added legitimacy. "Oh, you have an ID card with biometrics. OK, you get to go through the quick-lane at the airport where you get less scrutiny"
Of course, since the biometrics simply cannot handle this sort of task accurately, the mess that this will all create is enormous. Since facial recognition systems, for example, barely work 50% of the time in a database of 37,000 people, if they are using a database of 60 million Britons, can you imagine how many times you will not be able to use your cards, not get that medical help, not get that document, not get to vote etc because the system fails to identify you!
This is a boondoggle on the highest level and so terribly sad to see. Does the government really think the British publicx are so stupid that they can't see through this whole bogus scheme?
