Story: Are ID cards a game of blind man's bluff?
That we're being misled, and have been from the start is totally accurate. 'Entitlement Cards' was a name only dropped after it became apparent that everyone KNEW they were ID cards.
There were two things missed though - first, business processes. What is the process going to be to identify me initially? Using my passport? In which case, why replace that? Can we trust the processes of an organisation that took 20 years to close the loophole for getting a passport written about in Day of the Jackal?
Secondly, why are the media so for ID cards? A few weeks ago the BBC had a report on why ID cards were considered just normal in Belgium. And they had a guy from a smart card manufacturer saying about how secure they are, but no security analyst to comment.
