Story: BT trigger levels scupper community broadband

NOT SO.
Take a look at www.digital-wirksworth.org.uk and www.wirksworthconnect.co.uk. The day after we went public with our plans BT registrations jumped from 290somthing to the 350 trigger level (miraculous eh?).
RABBIT (the regional development agency body) backed us an we went ahead anyway. I'm sending this over my wifi broadband connection and in about 3 weeks about 50 people are connected to wifi with another 100 waiting to be hooked up.
Community solutions (in our case provided by a carefully selected local business) can work. Broadband can offer so much more than ADSL if it's done right, and community based is the way to go.
