As a complete newbie to Linux I've been amazed at the plethora (say what?) of distros whether they be source or live. I've got a box of burned iso's that's growing by the day, the latest of which is running as I write this...the new MandrakeMove beta 'live' cd.
Man, I'm loving it...it just works!
I've got an old Compaq w/ AMD Duron 850 that either works with linux out of the box or gets totally hung up requiring setting changes. At this point in time I'm more interested in distros that see all my gear first time around and this seems to be it for the moment. It set up in about 2 mins, saw all my stuff right off the hop, ie. nic/sound card/drives/monitor!! and away I'm going. Nice desktop and fairly responsive given that it's a live non-installed distro.
I'm going to go explore now...bye bye Red Hat, Suse by any other name will you still be the same? Mandrake, it's your turn to bat...whatcha got??
