Story: Sobig blamed for fourfold rise in spam

OK, so the virus is sending spam by taking over unguarded PCs and Servers. Who is making the MONEY from this Spam? I can't believe there is no way to catch the originators of this virus. If you catch the person making the Money then you will find the one starting these viruses. Am I the ONLY person that can see this? Or, am I way off base???
