Story: What to look for in peripherals for 2004

I know someone who bought a 32ppm laser printer about 4 years ago. If Moore's Law applies, then I should be able to get a 128ppm printer for the same price (about £800 as it was a special offer). Funny thing is, I don't see anything that fast, 50ppm is the quickest I've seen.
