Story: Microsoft gives away $25m
As most of the donations are in forms of software that the company produces itself can they really be called donations?
If it was say a car company giving away its own cars it would be different, but the actual cost to Microsoft of giving away versions of its software must be extremely small.
Personally, I think the amount that they are credited with donating should be counted by the actual cost to the company rather than the price they decide to set on there software.
For all we know they might be claiming each copy of Windows they are giving has a value of $1million in which case they would only need to give away 25 copies, a bit of an exaggeration but the point remains.
