Story: Inside Intel's Prescott
So Intel will squeeze 4 times as many chips out of each wafer which will reduce the cost of producing them. What odds would you get from a bookie that they'll reduce the cost to the end user? I'm guessing that the Prescott chip will cost the same as Northwood (if not more to start with) while offering no extra value. Yes there are new instructions but as pointed out they will make litte or no difference pretty much like MMX I guess. By the time developers take up the new instructions they'll either be redundant or superceeded.
Intel Inside™? No thanks, I'll stick with AMD.
