Story: Intel promises more speedy Linux releases
The article says that Linux is only run on a small fraction of desktop and laptop computers compared to Windows, and that therefore it doesn't affect a large number of users numerically.
Perhaps you should have a mathematician look over that sentence. First, that the initial part is true is a guess and an assumption. And the second part does not logically follow from the first, regardless. For instance, if a small fraction is, say, one tenth, then if there are 10 million Centrino wireless purchasers out there, then that means that 1 million are affected. 1 million is a lot of people, numerically, to be adversely affected. Especially if there are 10 million *potential* purchasers, and Linux support affects 1/10 of them making their purchasing decision. Just ask Intel if they would miss a million sales of their Centrino wireless technology.
