There may be a hidden feature

Actually, it's so the support team can set your SmellyWest Device to randomly release hydrogen cyanide when you call their support centre, thereby reducing the volume of call traffic to fit their support capacity.

Relax, folks - at least two people an hour are connected to the help team instead of perishing in a coughing fit.
