Story: PDA prizefight: Palm OS 5 v Windows Mobile 2003
And this is not an OS comparison I think. What about the fact that Palm is not yet fully a multitaksing OS - ver. 6 is but where we will see it on a real hardware? What about the API-s and the opportunities for the developers in general? With Pocket PC you don't need to learn a new OS - it is much like the desktop Windows (without the mess collected on the desktop) - you have file system and strong process control. Palm is like DOS while Windows CE looks much like a full scaled OS. With Palm you need tricks to make something work in the background - not so on Pocket PC and so on and so on. And if we realy look at the 3-d parties and not just pretend we know about them we will see that for Pocket PC you can find much more than for Palm - most Palm apps are simple games and PIM replacements while on Pocket PC you can get everything you need in your pocket. Yes some users are bound to contacts, meeting and e-mail, but let us be reasonable - every phone (not smartphone) today has them if we will compare OS-es over these features we can add in this contest a bunch of simple phones. So what is OS - email application and a few office apps. or a platform?
