Story: Chipmakers stop Wi-Fi sales to China
I think that all of the WiFi suppliers should tell China that they are not interested in selling WiFi in their country under a different standard. This would force the Chinese to back down. It is difficult for them to develop this internally and make a competitive product in a reasonable amount of time.
Everyone knows the real reason is so that the Chinese Government can stimulate their WLAN industry by STEALING existing IP from other semiconductor companies to jump start their own Wireless industry. Think about SMIC and TSMC a recent example.
This is one market that I would sit out of, at least initially, until the standard becomes more available and the IP issues are resolved
