I am absoloutly delighted with the Commisioners decision.

It is high time Microsoft got a hefty kick up the backside, after all you do not need to be a genius to see that Microsoft has been abusing it's monopoly for God knows how many years.

Windows is described as an Operating System, except it is'nt just an OS. It also includes an application for surfing the web: Explorer. Explorer is NOT an OS.

It also includes an application to allow the playback of music: Media Player (a bloody pain of a system if ever there was one!).

The thing is that Microsoft charges extra for these additions whether you want them of not which means that the retail price of the OS now comes to about £200, which is extortionate if you ask me. Good grief, you can buy a PC for less than that.

It is not as though these 'enhancements' are particularely brillient at what they do. If they were I am sure Microsoft would charge for them as a seperate item as they do with Office.

I would rather Microsoft removed both the items mentioned above, reduced the price to a more realistic level, and let the consumer decide what extra bits they need/want and make up their own minds as to whome to purchase the from.

Regards,

Pete
