Most of the larger organizations you'll come across (where the damages would presumably be the greatest) have requirements for contractor insurance coverage right in their professional services contract language. This article would appear to be targeted towards independent contractors doing work for smaller organizations. However, not being a lawyer, I don't know if consultants working as employees or subs of security consulting firms are covered under the umbrella of their respective organization or not...
