Story: Orange SPV C500: a first look
I took ownership of my first C500 on 8th March and within two weeks I encountered problems with the phone. When acessing a text message the screen moved to different menus, and also the phone regularly kept 'locking up' or freezing. The only way to free it was by having to remove the battery every time it happened. Having called Orange they were quick to provide a replacement phone the following day.
It's now three weeks later and my replacement phone is now suffering the identical problems as the first. I called Orange yesterday and was advised that whilst they are fully aware of this 'problem' ,they do not accept or recognise this as a 'FAULT'. They refuse to replace this handset either with another C500, nor will they agree to a change of phone until my contract expires in 11 months time unless I pay for an upgrade. The best they can tell me is that the manufacturer of this phone is aware of the problem, and Orange simply has to wait for the manufacturer to provide a solution. In the meantime, we the customers have been supplied with goods that are not fit for purpose. Does this contravene any Trading Standards legislation? If I brought a brand new car and the only way I could unlock the functionality was by having to disconnect the battery every day, I would expect the FAULT to be rectified immediately. Has anyone else experienced the same, and if so, what advice have you been given?
