Story: Apple warned over 'misleading' Power Mac speed claim
It's very funny to me how people will fight over what platform is better.
I use both Mac and WinTel every day (I run an ISP). I can tell you without a doubt that Mac's with OS X are many times better than the WinTel systems. But that's just me.
I come from a Unix background, and because of that I know how to use my computer efficiently. You just can't do the things you can do with Unix on WinTel. Simple things like changing your IP address is a chore in Windows. Even XP, although it's a lot quicker without the reboot.
As far as speed goes. I believe that the Mac's are faster than any other computers. Maybe not with some programs that are not optimized for the Mac platform. But when it comes to getting your work done, using the right tools, your going to be done quicker than a Windows user.
Another thing that I don't understand is the Windows users that are so against Macs, usually have never used Mac with OS X. Yet they still put them down. I guess that's called Faith.
Put it this way. I once had a job where I had the task of going to work at 5am to reboot all the Windows servers before the rest of the employees came in so there would not be any problems that day. Where I have a Linux system that has been running for 315 days serving 145 web sites on a 233MHz system with 128MB RAM. Stick that in your WinTel box and smoke it. (Mac's are just like FreeBSD/Linux but with a sane GUI.)
