This is not always the case. I run a gaming parlor all Xbox consoles in the United States. We would love to use the mod chips for a couple of good reasons. Instead of using our 12 - $50 copies of our games, we would keep the originals behind the counter and have the same number of backup disks to play on the consoles. Plus, with certain mod chips, we could have more control over the consoles, to be able to move saved games and profiles between the consoles because a mod chip enables us to run a custom OS. There are many good uses for mod chips..
