Story: Microsoft to shed light on Newham Council's Linux u-turn
Everyone already knows what happened:
1 Newham were going to switch to Linux as far cheaper over long term.
2 Microsoft fearing it could loose its total monopoly over the council/government desktop market gave Newham free software and service at cost.
Sure, Microsoft are illegally subsidising their software to Newham council in order to stop experimentation with alternate software but then again what MP in their right mind is going to criticize a deal which has effectivly saved the council millions in the short term.
(despite possibly denying councils with a test case through which billions of pounds could be saved on software costs over the next couple of decades!)
