Let me ask one question -- and it is not rhetorical:
When have you ever heard of a company basing its corporate strategy on persuading its customers of an assertion as obviously false as "Linux equals Redhat"?
You don't have to be a Llinux partisan to acknowledge that Novell/SuSe and Mandrake are serious commercial rivals, that scores of other distributions exist, that many of these (Slackware and Debian spring to mind) have large and avid followings, and that the barriers to entry in the Linux field are low indeed.
If this is all the honchos at Sun have for a strategy, they are not merely dead, but really, most sincerely dead.
