I, for one, don't want a hard, realtime, cron process to be able to frag my online Unreal Tournament 2004 game.

If they can build it into the kernel in such a way that you can choose to compile a kernel with or without it by choosing a kernel config option, then I say go for it (much like you can choose to compile for different architectures). Otherwise, leave it for the custom Linux distros...

So if you upgrade to XP SP3 you can't uninstall Internet Explorer, I'm quite sure I'm having a Deja-vu feeling about MS preventing people from uninstalling Internet Explorer in other Windows products.
