The Munich change-over project has attracted critisism (escpecially but not surprisingly from Microsoft sponsored media) due to the so-far small probelms they have had on the way.

Having worked on lots of 'upgrade' projects, I don't remeber ever working on a project which has been totally smooth-sailing all the way. It is something almost inherent with such large projects that hiccups are encountered on the way and from what I have read the one's encountered in Munich are extremely small.

I have encountered A LOT Larger problems simply upgrading from Windows 98 to Windows XP. I'm sure many System Admins will agree that upgrading Windows in a an enterprise-wide enviroment is almost always an absolute NIGHTMARE and personally I have found Linux to be far, far less stressful when maintaining a group of computers running it.

The Microsoft media however seem to overlook this, and produce 'studies' which have results far out of touch with reality, then again, have you ever heard of sponsored 'research' not concluding in favour of the sponsor?
