Will symptom fighting help to resolve causes? No, it'll only prolong the pain. In the mean time yet another layer is added to the complexity of the problem. And yet another layer of fingerpointing possibilities is added to the mix.

Putting ahead in time what really needs to be done will only make things more difficult and costly. Simplify and get to the root of the problem(s). Then deal with them.

Just don't make the mistake of zooming into a specific problem too much and neglect the things surrounding it. Keep a birds eye view.
