Story: TruCluster for HP-UX canned
As a longtime user of clustering technologies from Digital Equipment Corp. from the mid-1980s, beginning with VAXclusters and onward to Tru64's TruCluster technology, I find myself both bitter and angry about this decision. Once again a superior technology has been trumped by political or economic concerns.
There is NO other clustering environment out there that provides the seamlessness ease-of-use and ease-of-deployment as VMSclusters and TruCluster. Period. As an analogy, ServiceGuard is to VMScluster/TruCluster the same way a stone knife is to an XACTO blade.
I for one am hoping that TruCluster and VMScluster technologies don't die with their respective operating systems. HP should Open Source its clustering and AdvFS code. Obviously they don't think it's good enough to sell, so give it away!
