I think a wakeup call is needed for all those who oppose software patents (the vast, vast majority) to let the MEPs know.

Its widely known that the vast majority of people (atleast the ones which know about the legislation) oppose the idea of software patents due to the way big companies will be able to force smaller developers and Open Source developers out of business, but I think there is still a risk of the legislation going through due to MEPs recieving extreme amounts of lobbying from the few big companies with lots of money.

More work needs to be done by the rest of us to prove to the MEP's that software patents are not wanted. Just writing to (or even emailing) your local MEP would help loads.
