Local vs Network Storage is not about size of storage but speed of access. Having your pictures or MP3 available from the Internet might mean you can access them anywhere in theory, but if on the move all you have is GSM dial-up (9600 baud) then it doesn't matter how much space you are offered nobody is waiting half an hour to download 1 song. This will be used mostly by people to share photos etc as it's more convienent than emailing large files to everyone and is easier than setting up your own server.
