Story: European Apple fans protest at pricing
The $499 price tag in America is *ex*clusive of sales tax, because this varies from state to state. In the UK prices are advertised *in*clusive of VAT which accounts for £51.50 of the "extra" £71. Not quite such a rip-off, I believe.
I suspect the same is true in Europe. Do the Germans have a particularly high rate of VAT?
