Story: Picasa 2.0: a first look

I downloaded Picasa2 because I wanted to get away from the more costly Microsoft and Adobe products. I was impressed with its appearance and capabilities at first, but now I can't seem to get it to add photos in some nested folders. Someone else on this board mentioned the same problem, so perhaps it works correctly if folders aren't nested.
Anyway, I've tried everything I can find on the menus, but it won't add new files, even on a re-scan. The instructions don't cover problems like this. Too bad it wasn't better tested before it was made available. Or is this a beta version?
I am probably going to uninstall and use something else.
