Story: Microsoft accelerates public sector offensive
"Microsoft agreed to allow countries to examine the company's source code"
WRONG - Microsoft agreed to reveal only parts of the source code - there are still some parts they want to keep secret even from government bodies (you've got to ask yourself precisely why is that)
On the story - the more they try to supress Linux the more the intelligent observer will be led to thinking there must be a viable alternative to warrant that much effort.
Either way - the future of proprietary operating systems (system?) is short, whilst at the same time the interest in Linux is accelerating. Microsoft know this, they know their only future revenue is from their patent portfolio and the digital lifestyle sector currently ruled by Apple and Sony etc.
This is why awful prducts like windows media center are rearing their heads, microsoft's patent portfolio is increasing hugely and windows development is taking a backseat - as in longhorn being delayed and delayed.
It all speaks for itself - all you need to do is look at the 'whole', not the 'part' they are currently marketing.
