Story: KDE getting ready to go native on Windows
To those who think allowing developers to do native Qt/Win ports because it would dissuade user from switching to Linux, you might missing why most people see such a barrier to switching: THE APPS!
My wife is now a Linux user, and the only reason why is that Mozilla (which we use for browsing and e-mail) is cross-platform, but she still wouldn't switch until I installed Win4Lin so that she could still run Windows apps in a pinch. We never use Win4Lin, but psychologically she needed to know her apps were available.
If Windows users start using KDE apps on Windows, then the barrier to switching to Linux is lowered, and the paradigm shock of the switch is greatly lessened. They can't say "but Linux doesn't run !" because its just isn't true anymore. They will see the vastly increased security and stability and decreased cost of Linux (i.e. no longer having to purchase anti-virus/anti-spyware or pay M$ licensing fees), and they will make the switch gladly instead of grudgingly.
