Story: Next IE will ship before Longhorn

One has to stop and think if Microsoft would have even thought about pre-releasing the next IE before Longhorn if FireFox wouldn't have captured so much market share in such a short period of time.

That raises questions about what else Microsoft can be motivated about if FireFox (and other Open Source solutions such as Apache, MySQL, OpenOffice, etc) would capture even more market share.

Seems to me that the best way to make the most of your current Microsoft investments is to invest mostly in Microsoft alternatives.
