Speaking from my experiance as an IT Projects contractor, IT big names such as Dell, IBM, HP and the rest wouldn't know waste management if it hit them in the face! It would seam that nobody wants to take responsibility for the waste produced from transporting IT equipment ( cardboard and foam ) let alone think about what happens when the kit is disposed of. It's almost as if those in charge of these projects believe computers just fly off the backs of the lorries unpack themselfs and tidy up afterwards. It would be good to see this side of the waste management chain dealt with during this delay to get things right!

I should think a snitch scheme with rewards for informants and big fines for headlining companies could go a long way to raising awarness of this among management.
Hit them on their bottom line.

I must say I hate the idea of these informant schemes but am at a loss on what else to do after years of apathy from fellow engineers and management over this issue.
