I agree, and if you combine this with the "bloatware" associated with Office and Microsoft Exchange the issue is more than hardware.
The highly integrated complex rich [hard to learn, hard to maintain, ...] fails to recognize that not everything has equal value.
Change and interoperability become very difficult.
