Personally I think that a well designed and secured web site is a much more ideal platform to communicate corporate data over. Certainly if that's all done in platform and vendor independant ways because whatever is optional in your solution is something you can bargain with. Hence, the ability to negotiate over your options increases and ensures maximum flexibility at fair prices. And flexibility is key to long-term succes as is keeping costs down.
