Just a wee while ago the government were telling us that the scheme is to be voluntary, now they're mooting it as compulsory. Of course, it will be de facto mandatory anyway, since we the people won't be able to go anywhere without one (the police can demand to be shown one as proof of ID) or be able to rightfully claim social security benefits because you'll need to show one of those to prove ID. Once this is shown to be as insecure and easily forged, calls will be made to have us all injected with the Verichip, all in the name of financial security and ease of commerce. Sound familiar, does it, you betcha:

"And the beast [the Capitalist system] caused everyone to receive a mark [ancient Greek 'charagma' means 'to stake in', ie an injection] in their right hand or forehead." - Revelations.

Those who refuse are beheaded (they'll be branded as terrorists as a pretext) in a new holocaust. So much for learning the lessons of history: the Nazis would be so proud.

When all is said, if Microsoft produce the best product people will buy it and thats a good thing. If people have to buy their product because no one else can produce an alternative, only because interoperability protocols are kept secret, then thats a bad thing.
