We bought cheap (desktop Pentium D dual core based) servers here at my company. Two of the servers would run Win2K3srv and they're doing just fine. Generally, even Windows XP boasts with multiprocessor support (including dual core I guess).

I was surprised to know that dual core support is a "to do" thing in the Linux world. You see, there is a great advantage in using two cores in a single CPU, at very competitive prices.
