Story: BT’s wrist slapped over 'free VoIP' advert
UNFAIR TRADE PRACTICE
The use of deceptive, ambiguous and misleading words in an advertisement is not only unfair but equally an “unfair trade practice” that is prohibited in almost all the civilized nations. The end user or customer is the king of the market and he must be in a position to decide what product or services he has to purchase or avail. This choice depends upon a fair presentation of the product or services before the customer so that he can make a reasoned choice. A bona-fide ambiguity in the advertisement deserves to be ignored but a well calculated market strategy and unfair trade practice must be taken very seriously and strong actions must be taken against the same.
