Story: Sun 'distorts' definition of free software
to Wikström & Windischman: you may be right, but you miss the point.
Many people who use FOSS may indeed do so only because it's "free as in beer." And as you yourselves note, such people aren't interested in looking at the source code, modifying it, creating new FOSS programs and whatnot. But for that very reason, they are irrelevant to the issue at hand.
Without the people who *do* write FOSS, there's no FOSS for other people to use. And the people who *do* write FOSS *do* care about "free as in speech."
Thus, while FOSS users may not care very much (if at all) about the issues this article addresses, they depend on "free as in speech" anyway, whether they know (or care) about it or not.
