HARMONISATION OF LAW IS THE KEY

The solution to the problems posed by the use of Information Technology is the uniform application of “harmonised laws” all over the world. The Internet is a joint venture that requires collaboration and active assistance of all the nations. Since China has the second largest net using population, its inclusion was an absolutely must requirement. It is good that countries are working together for fighting cyber crimes with mutual assistance and cooperation. The spam nuisance can be tackled only by imposing deterrent punishment coupled with exemplary compensation. The problem of spam, however, cannot be eliminated completely unless active support of almost all the nations is considered. A nation not supporting this essential drive may be targeted as a “safe harbour” for committing various offences including spamming. Thus, no “heaven” should be left for cyber criminals and that is possible only by “harmonization of Laws” all over the world. That essentially requires an “Internet Treaty”.
