Regarding the RDP solution, you haven't mentioned the possibility of using a VPN client connection as a means of a secure connection in to the internal network, from which you can RDP to any system you like without any hassle. Using devices like a Cisco Pix 501 or VPN cable Routers will enable this simple and great way of remote management. I use this system in many of my clients and besides having a slow uplink connection from the server, I can fix many problems.
