Just want to echo the points Chris Beach made. I am fed up with the jibes at Microsoft. There are a bunch of failed profestionals that are in the anything but microsoft camp this is the kind of twaddle I expect from the 'new media sheep' groupies - LAMP is the Holy Grail, and slogans like "if it aint Macromedia it aint worth s#!?t "
Even more strange my clients (banks, insurance companies and so on) on their critical systems use Microsoft. I have not known any of them to go for a really cool browser of a magazine cover. Likewise no one in their serious mind at these Banks, News agencies or Insurance companies would dream of using LAMP. The nearest they might get to UNIX would be Solaris UNIX to run their Oracle systems on. I have not seem IBM (porting WebSphere applications to LAMP either). If you talk to any serious Technical Architect about using PHP or CFM versa JSP or .NET solution you will clearly set some distance between yourself and the big boys.
Firefox has some nice features but it is clear that ZDnet has allowed itself to dumbed down by the monkeys that write for it these days.
The next question might be, what if any web system professionals took your publications seriously and expected to get on in the industry. Are Journalist failed technical professionals? Like if you cant do the job you teach - cos otherwise you would be employed doing that job.
As for Standards - I look forward to someone fixing this website so it is readable on a hi-res screen. Anywhere else I would press the Control Key and use my Mouse Wheel.
