Story: Firefox loses market share
I'm developing a website - nothing new here. I'm doing it in XHTML 1.0 strict and CSS - nothing too difficult, just code tight. And I'm making nice menus, nice effects, nice graphics, all of that in only a few lines of clean, tight code, then validate my page with W3C validator, no problem. Then I open it in IE - and spend 5 weeks looking for workarounds to make IE work, adding complete pages of code to obtain a semi-satisfactory result and very slow rendering. Not only that, but my W3C-encouraged method of positioning elements - that is, using em instead of px - lands me headaches looking for the reason why would IE think that 7em is smaller than 5em - not even able to do basic arithmetics? As for non-compliant websites, first I write them, then I replace them. Even Windowsupdate can be replaced: try windowsupdate.62nds.com. Fast, complete, requires anything but IE.
