As ever there are pluses and minuses to these things.
Yes it would be possible for there to be mistakes with fingerprints, but even though the local police are not renowned for their intellects, I'm sure even they could work out that Mr Smith( no previous), stockbroker from Surrey, is unlikely to be the cat burglar in Sunderland that they have a print match with and have been after for years! With more than one biometric on the card, (three I believe is proposed+ photo) there is the chance to cross reference against DNA / iris scans. All three being wrong is unlikely.
It is progress for the vast majority of people. There will be teething problems, but it is progress, bring it on!
