If you seriously think this deal was driven by anything announced in the market in the last six months, then you really have no understanding of how business deals like this work and shouldn't be writing articles about them. These things don't just happen overnight, especially for large competitors who worry that the other side might get the upper hand in the deal and so there are meetings, and contracts, and drafts, and revisions, and lots and lots of lawyers and more meetings...
