Story: BitTorrent user convicted over movie sharing

It seems everyone is missing the point here. Discussion is centered around form and not the content of the article. China is one of the biggest abusers of copyright laws. They bootleg every movie on the market, many coming out before the original movie is even officially released. They export those movies to be copied and redistributed in countries such as the Philippines, Thailand, etc. The arrest is only a PR stunt to help relieve some of the pressure being applied by US. It is a good-will gesture showing compliance without any real substance. If the Chinese government really wanted to make a sincere effort, then they would go after the production factories and the gangs/organized crime running them. This man was convicted of sharing 3 movies. Yes, it is a crime, but definitely a small fish compared to the real copyright abuses being done on a large scale throughout China.
