Story: Toxic tech threatening developing world
It is excruciating that “hazardous waste” under the garb of “charity” is openly sent to developing countries, including India. The developed countries are pretending to bridge the “digital divide” by “separating the body and souls” of many in these developing countries. The government is not sensitive to the issue and those who are endorsing the drive of e-governance have not even paid heed to it. Now what is the significance of Article 21 of the Constitution when things like these are happening in India? I am not willing to accept that these nefarious activities are happening without the knowledge of the Government. How can government be silent on the most deadly hazardous waste of the Century? As per the report this is happening in the very CAPITAL OF INDIA. Now has the government also considered about the disposal arrangements of the computers and their peripherals while considering the otherwise impossible attempt of bridging the digital divide? Perhaps, the government must first learn to respect the value of its Human resources before it proceeds with its otherwise shallow attempt of improving their standard of life.
