Hi Ingrid:

I read you article, "Vienna's open source desktop migration takes off" with interest, as we are experiencing the same phenomena here in the states. My name is Morgan Lim, co-founder and COO of RaptorHead, LLC. (www.raptorhead.com) an open-source desktop applications company located here in Redwood City, CA. We bundled, sell and support open-source applications for Windows such as Firefox, openoffice.org, GAIM, Gimp and Turbocash. We target both consumers and enterprises and college students. We sell it in retail stores as well as direct. Our first batch of orders was sold out in less than a month. I am not sure when poeple will migrate completely to Linux but as for "soft migration--open source apps on Windows" it certainly is happening faster than I can anticipate. Thanks.
