Story: So why not put Linux on your business desktops?

Good article. I like to comment on the following statement:

"Linux desktops are ready to step into the shoes of Windows, but IT managers have to make a decision for it to happen. Linux may be free, but Windows is already there when you buy the PC."

The great thing about Linux is that it is free as in the meaning of freedom. We supposedly live in a free market economy and yet when it comes to choice, all we get from the hands of companies like Dell and Gateway are computers loaded with MS Windows. What we get from major software developers like Macromedia (Adobe) and Symantic is software designed for, well, Windows and Macs. I think this a major reason why Linux doesn't have more of a share of the desktop market than it has today. It smells of a conspiracy.

This lack of choice has led me to install and use linux on my business desktops and my home computer. Business and users should determine the software not the other way around.
