I response to anonymous...Group Policy? I think you are a little behind..yes AD is Microsofts claim to fame...however do you remember what AD was actually derived from...I for one have seen some of the stuff from Zenworks accomplish some things that Windows and AD could only dream of...so I think the thing that peopel really miss in articles is that every situation is different, and there is no magic on-for-all solution to every situation...There are many thing sthat Linux can do 1000 times better than windows, and the reverse is most certainly true...its all about your environment...may not be able to log into AD and change the screensavers but can you update say even 5% of the operating system without taking the users system down sometimes several times and completely bringing the network offline for reboots for sometimes trivial changes...I'm a avid linux fan...and I have never had a problem with Windows , but I liek many other have a problem with M$'s philosophy and how they do business...they days of a one OS desktop are over...heaven forbid Apple ever decide to sell OSX for Intel boxed off the shelf...accept the strengths and weaknesses of both system and make the best decision for you environment...thats all that matters
